Our Story

Southcott Vineyard, Pewsey Vales – Wiltshire
Our boutique vineyard is nestled under the Pewsey Downs on the edge of Salisbury Plain.

David, Sarah and Tim

We moved to Southcott in 2005. The house had already had a vineyard growing German grapes. This has sadly been pulled up when the owners ill health forced them to give up. We had run a hotel company before moving to Pewsey and a vineyard seemed an interesting way forward, growing wine instead of serving and drinking it!

We planted in 2005 with classic champagne grapes, Chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunière. The vineyard is small and consists of 2000 vines. The terroir is chalk and green sand.

The vineyard is run by the Ingram Hill family. At harvest time we are helped by friends and locals who are interested in the harvest experience. It makes the harvest an enjoyable event
