|NEWS FROM THE VINEYARD|
And, we also have some exciting news to share with you!
We are very excited about our new wine. It is a blend of the 2014 (25%) and the 2016 (75%). This means that it is classified as non-vintage.
2014 was a small harvest and so the wine was kept on oak for a couple of years. This has enhanced the non-vintage wine
We entered the wine into the WineGB awards in April 2021…
This is a national competition, judged by by very well-known wine experts led by Susie Barrie MW and Oz Clarke OBE.
This gives a true opinion on your wine. The awards are gold, silver, and bronze. Even a bronze award is an indication of a high-standard wine. We, therefore, see an award as an indication that you have achieved a high standard.
“2021 has been a great year for the WineGB Awards and undoubtedly our best yet. These Awards shine a light on the very best still and sparkling wines the UK has to offer and it’s wonderful to bear witness to an industry that is now consistently producing wines that really are world-class. Not only that, the range and variety of wines just keeps on getting better.” Said the well known wine experts including Oz Clarke and Susie Barrie.
The record number of entrants this year reflects the number of vineyards now operating in the UK. Many excellent wines, both sparkling and still are included. It is always good to see the standard of your product judged against other Great Britain wines.
We didn’t know what our results would be. Having held a bronze award for our previous wine we hoped that we would have at least reached that standard, but we were thrilled to achieve higher.
The results have been announced, and it’s a Silver Award!
All our family is involved in the wine production at one time or another and we will be raising a glass of the fizz together in celebration.
It is a limited production and it is already available to buy from our website.
“The WineGB Awards are one of the highlights of my year and this year certainly reinforced that; we had the thrill of encountering and rewarding even more styles, witnessing more innovation and discovering new producers, new names and new wines. I can speak for all the judges in saying that we’re all really excited about the potential that Britain is rapidly developing, and we saw it this year. You can only be at the birth of a new wine region once – and that’s where we are now!” Oz Clarke OBE commented.
